Federalist 51 for EXTRA CREDIT!!!

Federalist 51 introduces and talks about the idea of checks and balances in the government. They talk about it in terms of elections, salaries, and other things. They state that each branch of the government must somehow have a check on its power while still being able to control some things. It discusses the responsibility of the government to watch to make sure the people are not being oppressed, and how a government 'for the people, by the people' is the best way for the United States to go.

Federalist 10 For Dummies

Federalist Paper #10 deals with the groups ("factions") of people in post-Revolutionary America. Because it is impossible to work out all the differences of all the people and control conflicts between these factions, democracy will always have conflict in it. The author argued for the Constitution by stating the necessity of a representative government (to eliminate tyranny) so all of these factions could have a voice. There will always be factions, he reasons, yet a country united under one Constitution - like the USA - can help regulate the conflicts between them and end up stronger.
